Pelicans is an ice hockey club from Lahti, Finland, with roots stretching back to the Viipurin Reipas team, which was established in 1891. Viipurin Reipas won the first ever Finnish ice hockey championship and the 1928 championship flag still flies over the club's home arena, Isku Areena. The club's name has changed several times over its long history: Lahden Reipas, Kiekkoreipas, Hockey-Reipas and Reipas Lahti. Since 1996, the flagship of ice hockey in Lahti has been called Pelicans.

Charity work together

There has also been good teamwork on the ice. DNA and Lahti Pelicans worked together to collect charitable donations for patients in the children's ward of the central hospital in Päijät-Häme, Finland. During the intermissions of home matches, companies from Lahti put their goal-scoring skills to the test and collected money for the hospital by taking part in the DNA Business Challenge goal-scoring competition.

The phone and the internet are important for players and staff

DNA has provided the club with voice and data connections along with a mobile exchange. "Ice hockey is a team sport and communication is vital, both on the ice and off. When we step off the ice, DNA is responsible for keeping us together," says Lahti Pelicans' Marketing Director, Tomi-Pekka Kolu. "The players travel a lot, both nationally and internationally, and it is important to be able to keep in touch. It is a top priority to make sure that we remain in contact and that all of our connections work. This enables the staff to do their jobs and the entire club to run properly," says Kolu. "We have definitely been satisfied with DNA's services. It has been a smooth ride with them."
