Telenor’s Nordic Managed Services unit is reshaping how operators deliver secure, scalable and automated connectivity. With centralised best-practice expertise and technologies, NMS provides a unified and differentiating approach to nextgeneration networks across the Nordics – and its benefits are now available to DNA’s Finnish customers as well.
Nordic Managed Services (NMS) is a panNordic unit within Telenor that designs, delivers and operates nextgeneration, softwaredefined network solutions for Telenor clientele across the Nordics and globally.
NMS centralises expertise, technology and automation to offer a unified best-in-class approach to modern enterprise networking.
This “engineering superpower” is now available to the customers of the Finnish operator DNA, says Dominique Akl, Head of Nordic Managed Services.
“Our new Nordic muscle and tech is helping DNA serve their customers even more comprehensively than before”, he says.
“By leveraging the NMSmanaged solutions, we offer our customers a continuously developing full Nordic offering and operating model. For our customers, this guarantees access to industry-leading solutions and service levels”, explains Ville Laakso, VP, Network Solutions Business at DNA.
Intelligent layer on top
Created in 2024, Nordic Managed Services is a crossborder organisation that brings together top engineers, architects and operational specialists into one shared Nordic powerhouse. Today NMS has about 130 professionals and serves all business units within the Telenor group.
NMS specialises in socalled overlay solutions. While DNA and other local business units provide the underlay connectivity, meaning the fundamental network services and infrastructure, such as fibre and mobile networks, NMS adds a smart layer on top. This layer is built using technology from leading tech vendors.
“In simple terms, the local business units provide the foundation, and NMS brings the added intelligence on top of it. We do additional magic within the box”, says Akl.
Helios is the engine
A central element of NMS’s capability is Helios, the managed services engine tailored by Telenor, utilising leading industry technologies. It includes NMS’s automated provisioning stack and supports fully zerotouch deployment across markets. It is also the home of NMS’s AIdriven monitoring capabilities.
The engine is scalable and flexible, allowing for efficient delivery to major public and enterprise clients.
On the operational side, the scale is striking. The new AI ops dashboard has achieved a noise reduction rate of 99.77 per cent, automatically filtering hundreds of thousands of daily events. Only a tiny fraction becomes alerts requiring human attention, and only some of those escalate into incidents handled by engineers.
Advanced automation is one of the reasons Telenor recently won multiple Cisco Partner Awards, including Managed Services Partner of the Year (Norway) and Service Provider Partner of the Year (Norway and Northern Europe). This same level of automation is now also available to DNA’s customers.
The future is secure and hassle-free
By bringing the diverse expertise, architecture skills and operational capabilities from the broader Nordic organisation, the NMS cooperation opens new possibilities for DNA customers.
“The Nordic capabilities expand our range of technology options and secure scalable operational best practices. This enables us to better serve customers of all types and sizes with varying needs – efficiently and with industry-leading quality”, says Laakso.
The development doesn’t stop here. In the future, NMS plans to further expand its vendoragnostic AI layer and bring more technology vendors and options into Helios. Stay tuned for more!
