NaturVention Oy's smart green wall adds outdoor freshness to indoor air. The purification capacity of one active green wall combines 63 plants plus smart digital solutions - naturalising indoor air in rooms of up to 100 square metres.
The rapidly growing indoor air purification market has boosted the business operations of NaturVention Oy, a Finnish company established in 2011: more than EUR 2 billion is spent annually on traditional indoor air filtration systems in Finland alone, more than what is spent on heating.
Unlike traditional air purification methods based on removing harmful chemicals and microbes from the air, the plants of the active green wall consume impurities in the air and replace them with natural compounds.
“Over the past four years, our turnover has tripled year on year. We are expecting a growth of up to 300 per cent from 2014 – thanks to the success in our current key markets in Finland and Russia,” says Niko Järvinen, founder and CTO of NaturVention.
Data flows and maintenance is easily available
DNA is one of NaturVention's key partners. The M2M data subscriptions that are part of NaturVention’s active green walls enable the remote management and control of the walls using automated monitoring equipment. DNA's reliable fixed network connections, comprehensive mobile network and data transfer also allow the company to provide its customers with an easy NaturService maintenance warranty.
“The operation of the active green wall can easily be compared to professional sports because the system is continuously working at its limits. DNA's M2M data subscriptions enable data transfer between us and our customers. DNA allows us to monitor the status of our customers' green walls 24/7 and to determine whether any maintenance is required.”
According to Järvinen, the partnership with DNA has helped both companies to improve the quality of their products – after all, a reliable network connection guarantees that customer systems operate at the optimal level. In addition to improved customer satisfaction, remote management also reduces warranty-based maintenance costs because it is possible to react immediately to any breakdowns.
“DNA has been a flexible partner that offers a simple and easy service package. Our package includes 1,000 SIM cards that we can flexibly use in our production whenever needed. Previously, we needed to order them individually from the operator.”
Currently, NaturVention employs 30 people in their Jyväskylä and Helsinki units. The company believes that it will expand outside its current market areas to the rest of Europe and Asia – more specifically to China.
“If all goes well, we will make our first deliveries to London later this year. In addition to Europe, our eyes have turned towards Asia, which struggles with many practical problems when it comes to air quality.”
