DNA has signed an agreement with Landis+Gyr for the delivery of a real-time intelligent wireless M2M solution for data communication services to be used in smart metering with electricity meters. The solution entails the delivery of tens of thousands of SIM cards to Landis+Gyr customers.
Landis+Gyr is about to launch several large smart metering projects for energy companies in various parts of Finland.

In the next few years, the number of M2M subscriptions will increase intensively in Finland, while M2M solutions will rapidly become more common in other areas of application too, such as logistics and security services.
According to a Finnish government decree, 80 per cent of electricity meters must be covered by smart metering systems by 2014.
